THE CORPORATION OF TH CITY OF PORT COCUITLAN MEMORANDUM Kirk, February 20, 1989 Administrator Chong, P. Eng., File: Pwc/810 Engineer SUBJECT: ng Restrictions on Coast Meridian Road South of Mary Hill Bypass ic Works Committee Meeting February 15, 1989) Fecommencatiocns: 1. That "No Parking At Anytime" restrictions be imposed on Coast Meridian from the Mary Hill Bypass to the Pitt River Dyke. 2. That the City Clerk take the necessary steps to amend the Traffic Regulations Bylaw if the above recommendation is approved by Council. Background and Comments: The proposed parking restrictions on this section of Coast Meridian Road originate from the Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer. During the Committee meeting he advised that commericial trailers often park for Gays on both sides of the road. This practice does not only restrict visibility for truck Grivers entering and exiting private criveways but can also chysically make the necessary turning movements of tractor trailers in this area very aifficult since the width of the road is only approximately 10 meters. The reperted speeding of vehicles by the F.C.M.P. on this roac contributes to the safety problems. During the discussions on this matter, the Committee was advised that there is a provision in our existing Bylaw restricting on-street parking to a maximum period of 48 hours. After this time limit, the Bylaw Enforcement Section can have the vehicle removed. The Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer felt, however, that it is impractical to take advantage of this provision of the Bylaw and that it would be better to impose the proposed "No Parking at Anytime" restrictions on this road. ee fe SAY) Ca ey M.
