Activity in land sales has also generated much work in the Clerk’s Department. The City Clerk prepares reports to Council, advertises properties and responds to all inquiries from the public. The City Clerk is also responsible for organizing Awareness Week with elementary, junior high and senior secondary schools. 1992 has seen a dramatic increase in the services offered to the Protective Services Committee. The City Clerks attends meetings and provides information on issues before the Committee and interprets bylaws, In 1993, the Joint Family Court Committee will be administered by the Clerk’s Department adding additional minutes and correspondence. From January to September 1992, 94 bylaws were prepared, The Clerk’s Department also brought to completion 13 road exchanges/closures; this includes obtaining infonnation for the preparation of plans, negotiations for portions of exchanges/closures, obtaining approvals from adjacent property owners; advertising and petitioning the provincial government. 33 zoning bylaws and 6 official community plan amendment bylaws were also prepared which involved obtaining legal and other information on property ownerships, ensuring that all provincial government requirements were met and adhered to, A further 24 development permits were processed. Also, 10 development variance permits were issued which involved obtaining surrounding owner information and preparing materials for mailout.
