Public Hearing Notification
Bylaw Requirements

RECOMMENDATION:

That the Clerk's office be directed to prepare a bylaw amending
(

Section 1) of Bylaw 2160 providing for the mailing of notices
of public hearings, revising the minimum requirement for
mailing from 14 days to 10 days.

COMMENTS:

The Clerk's Office has noted that requirements of tne Munici
Act for the number of days prior to a public hearing tT
notices are to be mailed has been reduced from 14 to 10. T
report is being submitted to suggest that the City's Bylaw
mailing of notices be amended to require the same number
days as contained in the Act.
The Clerk's office prefer to fh ity bylaw requirements to
follow Municipal Act standards is change would not alter
procedures, but would provide ility for the Clerk in
cases where immediate notificati equired.s
