THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM BYLAW NO. 2247 A Bylaw to provide for the payment of an indemnity to re tAR 2- 1987 Mayor and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam. WHEKEAS under and by virtue of Section 267 of the "Municipal Act" being Chapter 290 of the Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1979, the Counci! may by bylaw provide for paying out of the annual revenue an indemnity to the Mayor and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, and may provide that a portion of the said indemnity to be paid to the Mavor and Aldermen shali be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the discharge of the duties of their respective offices; NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council! of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: le During the period extending from the First Monday after the First day of December, 1986 to the First Monday after the First day of December, 1987, there shall be paid to the Mayor of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam an indemnity of $30,276.00 per annum of which said indemnity the -am of $10,092.00 shal! be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the discharge of the duties of his office. Zo During the period extending from the First Monday after the First dav of December, 1986 to the First Monday after the First dav of December, 1987, there shall be paid to each of the Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam an indemnity of $9,264.00 per annum of which said indemnity the sum of $3,088.00 shall be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the discharge of the duties of the office of Alderman. 3 The indemnity provided for in Sections 1 and 2 hereof shal! be paid by the City Treasurer in twelve equal monthly installments during the months of December, 1986 through November 1987, inclusive, to the person or persons entitied to receive the same without further order or resolution of the Counci! save and except as provided in Section 5 of this Bylaw. 4, After the expiry of the time specified in Sections. 1 and 2? hereof the Treasurer shali continue to pay the same equa! monthiyv instaliments to the person or persons entitled to receive the same as was being paid under the authority of Sections 1 and 2 hereof until the Council shal! otherwise provide; and, upon such provision being made the amount or amounts paid shall be adjusted accordingiy. 5 In the event any member of Counci! is absent for more tnan three consecutive regular Council meetings the indemnity that would otherwise be due that member shall not be paid to that member. The provisions of this section may be waived by unanimous vote of the remaining members of Council. 6.
