SUBJECT: Computer/Word Processing Requirements.

RECOMMENDATION :

That we proceed with the purchase of a mini-computer/word processor
from MAI Canada. Details are as follows:

~ 4 Video display terminals (data processing)
- 3 Multifunction display terminals (word processing and
data processing)
Central Processing unit 160 K memory
35 MB dise drives
Dise packs
High speed printer (retained from existing system)
Low speed printer
Letter quality printer (word processing)
Plus applicable software packages

Total cost $152,621.00

The funds are available from our Computer Reserve.

COSTS

MAI was the second low bidder for the system, a detailed cost
comparison is shown on pages 6 and 7 of Thorne Stevenson & Kellogg's report
to which the cost of one additional word processing terminal (and increased
CPU size) has been added plus the applicable sales tax.

LEASE vs PURCHASE

Thorne Stevenson and Kellogg mention a rate of $25 per $1,000 per
month which could be reduced to $24.27 per $1,000 on a lease through a
financial institution, this rate is based on an 184% interest rate.
