RECOMMENDATION:

That the Port Coquitlam Council go on record and notify the Greater
Vancouver Regional District that we are not in support of putting a
landfill site in the Pitt Polder.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

On Wednesday March 24th, 1982 Council heard briefs from concerned
citizens and groups on reasons why we should not use the Pitt Polder
for a landfill site. Environmentally it is unsafe and hazardous

to our present environment and a potential hazard to our Minnekhada
Ranch which is directly across from the Proposed site.

As Environmental Chairman I am already looking into getting more
information on recycling and will submit a report to Council at a
later date.
