ew GOUNCIL- ; OCT 15 1979 Mayor and Council Qetober 10th, 1979 L.D. Pollock City Administrator: Re: Lease of Justice Building for Court Facilities In April of this year, Council authorized the extension of our Lease to the Provincial Government of a portion of the Justice Building for use as a Court facility. The Province have leased this faciltity since April of 1974 and have requested extensions from time to time pending the construction of a new facility for this area. The Municipal Manager in Coquitlam informs me that he has negotiated a Lease extension for a three year period, i.e. from April 1979, at a rate of $8.80 per square foot. The Lease covers the Court Room area, some office space and common use of the waiting area, vestibule, washrooms, etc. The Lease will yield approximately $165,000. over the three year period. The rate for last year's lease was $8.15 per square foot and the Municipal Manager indicates that the new rate is justifiable from a market standpoint as well as from a cost recovery standpoint. The lease rate is the only thing changed in the lease document with all other conditions remaining the same. The District of Coquitlam Council has approved the new rate ,and if this is acceptable to Council, we will prepare a By-law to cover the leasing of this portion of the facility. . —” _ L.B. Pollock
