In reply to Mrs. C. Whiting’s letter of January 7th, 1972 re -
Civie Medallions ~ .

Certain guidelines were considered by the 1971 Counci? when it
uas decided to present modallions to local citizens.

One for achievercnt in the many fields of sport, scholastic, fine

arts, atc., and one for service to the Corsunity.

In the case of achie $, SY Xr dations would be that

they date from January lst, 1971 - the year Council decided to avard medallions.
In the case of service to the Community, this has to go back ever
the past years, such as was done in the first presentations ia January, 1972,
. Ido not think {t was Council's intention to hand these Medallions
out to every tean member for exemple, but to make them something to be very

proud to receive vhen a person won a chasplonship or sone ather top honour.
