The bulk of the money, over $2,000, was raised by skicrs who collected pledges based on how many verlical fect they could ski. Steve Barre of Prince Rupert managed over 33,000 while Ken Strymecki of Terrace raised the most money. He collected $649, Moncey was also raised through a pancake breakfast and B.B.Q lunch, Local powder 8’s prevail TERRACE'S WENDY Shymanski took first place in the Northern Regional Powder 8 competition held at Shames February 11. She and her partner Jake Palmer of Prince Rupert scored 261 points out of a possible 300, Poinls were earned for symmetry, synchronization, and roundness of the tums, The second place team of Chad Elwood and Travis Sandwall will be joining Shymanski and Palmer at the Nationals in Lake Louis March 4 and 5, Sun shines on ski season IT MAY scem like spring is just around the comer, but there’s still plenty of snow on the cross-country trails al Onion Lake. Despite the recent melting, Terry Brown at the Kitimat Cross Country Ski Club says the trails are in good shape and the Piston Bulley snow groomer is hard at work! A reminder though that conditions can change quickly at this time of year, and skiers are advised to used caution by dressing for the weather and by bringing along plenty to eat and drink. And the Club is beginning to prepare for the Kitimat Open on March 3. This is the final race event in the Northern Cup series.
