' moos Dear Sir: SUBJECT: TRAIN WHISTLING LEGISLATION : Council at their regular meeting of February 6, 1984 gave first reading to a "Railway Noise Reduction Bylaw". i The bylaw was initiated in response to complaints from residents : regarding disturbance caused by train whistles near the railway : crossing at Westwood St. The bylaw proposes anti-train whistling 24 a legislation for selected crossings which are in close proximity : to residential areas,and would not require improvements to exist- ing railway protection devices in compliance with the Canadian Transport Commission requirements. for anti-train whistling legis- lation. One of the crossings selected by Council for regulation under this i bylaw is the crossing of Westwood Street by the CPR Rail Line at mileage 112.8 Cascade Subdivision. As the eastern half of this crossing is located within the City of Port Coquitlam, we are ; i requesting that the City establish anti-train whistling legislation for this location.
