Kirk March 4, 1992 MAR 9 - 1992 City Administrator File: Accessory Home Business Carlos Felip, Director of Planning Accessory Home Business Bylaw Planning and Development Committee ~ March 4, 1992 THAT the attached draft Zoning Bylaw Amendment to regulate Accessory Home Business be approved. 2. THAT The Municipal Clerk be instructed to prepare the appropriate bylaws to implement the above. BACKGROUND: A draft Accessory Home Business Bylaw was referred by the Economic Development Committee to the Chamber of Commerce and made available to the general public for perusal and comments. Input was received from a number of people and from the Chamber of Commerce resulting in the Economic Development Committee recommending a number of changes. PROPOSED CHANGES: 1. To include a definition for "Tutorial Services"; 2. To include tutorial services as a permitted accessory Home Business use, restricted to one instructor per dwelling unit; That a one non-resident employee be permitted. That the maximum of visits per day by clients to a home be restricted to 10. DISCUSSION: Reacting to the public input the Planning Department had recommended 1 and 2 above. ‘The members of the Economic Development Committee, however received additional input that indicates the advisability to permit one non-resident employee in any home based business. a Since Home Based Business Bylaw is generally restrictive, the additional flexibility created by allowing one non-resident employee should not result in undo hardship on surrounding properties.
