That the City of Port Coquitlam approve, in : : . ou. principle, the theme and concept plan of the proposed water park at Sun Valley Park. . i: - 2. That the City of Port Coquitlam waive any fees that would be required for water or sewer eonnections. Background & Comments: In 1987 the City Council gave approval to the Port Coquitlam | ; Kinsmen to construct a water park in Sun Valley Park. The : : i Kinsmen are doing this project as a 75th birthday celebration for the City. The proposed opening of the water park is duly 1, 1988. | The Parks & Recreation Committee have met with the Kinsmen and - , are supportive of the concept of a rail locomotive theme for the i oe a water park. Three areas of concern have been discussed with the committee; these being service connection fees for water and sewer, parking and the elimination of two soccer fields. The committee is recommending that the fees for service connections be waived. } BO The parking situation is under review with the Engineering | A Department and it is hoped to create some additional parking at the east end of Lincoln Avenue. It is not anticipated that the parking will necessarily be significantly higher than the present situation on weekends, when soccer is played on the three mini-soccer fields. Parking presently is accommodated on Lincoln Poe Avenue and on Hamilton in front of the park. | poe
