Dear F.C.M. Member:

It is with great pleasure that I extend to you a sincere
invitation to attend this year's Annual Conference of the Federation of
Canadian Municipalities to be held in Winnipeg from June 3rd to 7th.

Since last summer's excellent meeting in Moncton, N.B.,
your Federation executive has been working diligently and has developed
another stimulating and challenging program. It is a program that I
believe allows all members, whether from rural or urban areas to actively
participate in finding new solutions to our country's national municipal

problems.

However, all work and no play does make Jack a dull boy
and so our Host Committee has set about developing an after session program
that we believe will make the Winnipeg conference one that will be
long remembered.

Consider if you will a unique 2 hour trip around the world
as you sample the food, drink and entertainment of over a dozen different
countries during our "FOLKLORAMA RECEPTION’. Or relive the days of the
early West at an outdoor barbeque at Lower Fort Garry, an original stone
fur trading post constructed in 1830. And who can resist a moonlight
riverboat cruise on the Red River.

And we haven't forgotten the spouses! While delegates are
at work discussing ideas and planning the Federation's aims and objectives,
Spouses will be treated to a variety of interesting activities designed

to suit every taste.

The challenges that face municipal officials are many and varied.
But we must meet these challenges if we are to ensure that our ciites and
towns remain good places to live for our citizens. It is my hope that you
can be a participant in this year's conference and that we can work together
to find a new place for local government in a changing Canada.
