We feel that our council should be desirous of protecting our rights
and vested interests as taxpayers and we should be able to trust the
elected representatives to consider the following also,-—

The P. L. A. B. requires that a survey of the homeowners only,
should be done in the area of %# mile radius of the property to
be licensed. This survey excludes the signatures of any persons
from the commercial or industrial businesses.

Could this survey be done in a manner acceptable & approved by
the Licensing branch as well as city council before prodeeding
with the rezoning of the property at 1929 Brown Street?

Since the Licensing Branch require that 3 subsequent notices be
printed in the local paper to allow the public to be properly
informed, could we not expect the Council to publish notices in
the local paper to inform the public about the rezoning?

Such Public Meetings are announced in the Sun by Burnaby and
Vancouver when rezoning of property is proposed.

Lack of information to our taxpayers could be part of the reason
why there was a poor turn out at the Kilmer School meeting. This
was not the case with the Columbia Street proposal for a pub.

The Herald could prove to be a valuable tool for the Coucil in
keeping the public informed & stimulate more public interest in
civic affairs.

Could Council not release the results of the regular covncil
‘meetings each week, as well as the committee & public meetings?

There are 2 schools within the affected area of the proposed pub,

an elementary and a Jr. Secondary.

With lack of sidewalks, would council bear in mind that the safety
of the children will be jeopardized when walking or cycling on the
road when there will be’ such an increase of traffic in the area?

We were promised that access or egress would not be permitted from
Brovn to the property. It appears that the public works dept. has
changed their mind and this will create a hazard for horeowners in
the area that use Browm St. This situation could cause fatalities.

To avoid the entrance to the property on Mclean St. we fear that
motorists will use other routes and our side street throughout the
subdivision will be used. This creates another abuse of our peace
and quiet that we have enjoyed for so long.

The anti+noise bylaw that is currently in effect between the hours
of LL poem. & 6 a.m. -will be violated ifa pub is allowed to operate
during those hours and our rights as taxpayers will be denied.
