12 Terrace Review — Wednesday, June 18, 1986 Equestrian trials held The Totem Saddle Club (TSC) held their first ever equestrian sum- mer games trials earlier this month. Equestrian summer games trials were also held in Fort St. James and Smithers during the latter half of May. Several TSC members at- tended the Smithers show and did extremely well. Krista Tycho of Terrace came away with the hi-point junior award of that horse show which was sponsored by the Northern Saddle Club of Smithers, Hi-point winners of the TSC Spring Permit Horse Show were as follows: Hi-point Western Senior,. Peggy Jackson; hi-point Western Junior, Mary Eisner. . Hi-point English Senior, Coleen Ander- son; hi-point English Junior, Sherry Kirsch. Although TSC Spring Permit Horse Show was open to anyone, its main purpose was to allow in- terested equestrian riders to try out for the B.C. Summer Games. Games will be held in Cran- brook July 10 to 13. As it is, the entire Zone 7 equestrian team is made up of riders from the Terrace rea. Members of the Zone 7 equestrian team are Coleen Anderson who will be entered in the Dressage division; Krista Tycho and Nichole Kirsch for the Hunter division; Tina Knull and Lisa Ziegler for the Jumper division; Lyn Lavoie and Jason Rempel for the Western Games division; and Peggy Jackson and Frances Knull for the Western Performance division. Chaperones for the Zone 7 team will be Sherry Anderson and Robert Kirsch for the English div., and Judi Hannon and Jim Knull for the Western div. Thornhill — The Totem Saddle Club spring show and the Western and English Summer Games trials were held recently at the Thornhill Com- munity Grounds. The sun was bright, promising a beautiful day for the races. Totem Saddle Club Queen, Tina Knull cut the ribbon dur-. ing the opening ceremonies at 1 p.m. - A new hunter course was opened, said Barn Manager Francis Knull. “'This course was design- ed by Nick Holmes- Smith, once a member on the Cariadian eques- trian team, presently a Hunter Jumper instruc- tor.’’ Holmes-Smith was invited to Terrace.for a. clinic, said Knull. The course was con- stucted last year by Totem Saddle Club's work crew. A govern- ment grant was obtained by the club for the ex- penditure. The course has a total of 12 jumps.
