Kirk, City Administrator Janna Taylor, Parks & Recreation Director Vandalism - PoCo Rec Centre (Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting July 6, 1992)) Cm 0 Oe ta Vis a On OE SOL OE LL ER OY OO OY OD Oo, To receive this report for information. Background cd The Parks & Recreation department is experiencing a fair amount of vandalism at the PoCo Recreation Centre during the months of May and June 1992. The damages appear to be deliberate and destructive in nature. Unfortunately, these damages are noted after the user groups have vacated the facility. This makes it extremely difficult to determine who is responsible. The total damages for May and June amount to $1,775.99. Attached is a breakdown of the costs. The Parks & Recreation Committee have reviewed these damages and are of the opinion that City Council should be made aware of the cost. A new policy has had to be instituted at the Poco Rec Centre because of the vandalism. The doors of the Rec Centre will remain locked until a coach arrives and only then will the teams be permitted in to the facility. The previous policy was that the facility would be open 1/2 hour before scheduled use regardless of whether the coaches were present or not. It is most unfortunate that this action has had to be taken. aa Taylor, 8s & Recreatiorf{ Director ®.
