Kirk DATE: February 14, 1991 City Administrator FILE: Interoffice Memos Carlos Felip Director of Planning Zoning Bylaw Amendment - Gross Vehicle Weight Planning and Development Committee - February 13, 1991 RECOMMENDATION : It is recommended that Council approve in principle the following amendment to the Zoning Bylaw to correct the gross vehicle weight specified for commercial vehicles: Replace Section 504 (1) with the following: "(1) One truck or commercial vehicle not exceeding 4600 kilograms (10,141.1 pounds) gross vehicle weight." AND THAT Council authorize Staff to prepare the necessary Draft Bylaw amendments to Zoning Bylaw No. 2240. DISCUSSION: The proposed Zoning Bylaw amendment ig to correct a discrepancy between Traffic Regulation Bylaw No. .,i117 and Zoning Bylaw No. 2240 regarding Gross Vehicle Weight of Commercial: Vehicles. : In Bylaw No. 1117, Section 128 defines truck as "any vehicle licensed under the Department of Commercial Transport Act for a gross vehicle weight of 4,600 kilograms or greater and designed or used primarily for the transportation of property". In Bylaw No. 2240, Section 504 currently states that one truck or commercial vehicle not exceeding 3,630 kilograms gross vehicle weight may be parked or stored in residential zones. The Chief Licence Inspector and Bylaw Enforcement Officer has indicated that the weight of a commercial vehicle, as specified in Zoning Bylaw No. 2240, should not exceed 4,600 kilograms gross vehicle weight. “(Zs Carlos Felip; M
