SUBJECT: Intersection Studies on Shaughnessy St. and Coast Meridian Ave. RECOMMENDATIONS: Of the five improvements recommended by Hamilton Associates for Shaughnessy Street, the City should: 1. Reject the Proposal for four lane operation on Shaughnessy between Elgin and Whyte, during weekday afternoons from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Adjust the signal timing for the McAllister traffic Signal to provide a 4.0 second intergreen clearance interval for both phases. Install pedestrian Crossing signs for the existing painted crosswalks at Whyte, Marpole, and Wilson. Also, install curve warning Signs and reflective centerline maxykers on Shaughnessy near Marpole and Wilson. Realign pavement markings on Shaughnessy to provide left turn lanes onto Wilson and Marpole, as shown on figure 2. Install pedestrian Signal heads and inductance loops at the Shaughnessy/McAllister intersection. Of the five improvements recommended by Hamilton Associates for the Coast Meridian / Prairie intersection, the City should: Coat Mitra dron/ Pray ic ; 1, Adjust the Signal timing for the McAllister traffic signal to provide a5.0 second intergreen clearance interval for both phases. 2. Request that the RCMP continue to do periodic checks for Speeding and other violations near the int*rsection., Reject the Proposal for geometric changes to the intersection at this time. Reject the proposal to construct a centre median on Prairie, restricting left turns into developments near the intersection.
