RESOLUTION |

WHEREAS Part 15 of the Municipal Act sets out the terms, me
conditions and responsibilities of municipalities to consider
franchises within their boundaries.

AND WHEREAS it is important for municipalities to have the ,
opportunity to make decisions regarding the selection of
distributors and to negotiate the terms of a franchise contract.

| THEREFORE be it resolved that the Association of Vancouver Island
Municipalities urge Che Provincial Government to allow each
municipality to choose the natural gas distributor with whom the
tunicipality will negotiate a franchise agreement.
