’ THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ITEM III — Continued unlikely that the posting of truck route signs would change the number of trucks using the road past the school but it might be perceived as such by the residents. Therefore the Committee recommends that only Coast Meridian Road from the Lougheed Highway to Prairie Avenue be designated as a truck route. I would like to point out two potential problems with this recommendation. The first is that the conditions for a grant under revenue sharing act for Prairic Avenue are that no class of vehicle will be restricted from the road without Depart- ment of Highways approval. In order to designate Coast Meridian as a truck route, it would be necessary to post appropriate signs along the highway as well as on Prairie Avenue at the end of the truck route. This might result in questions about our pre- vious grant received for Prairie Avenue and might result in loss of a grant for future construction on Prairie Avenue. The second concern is that large areas of the north side are inaccessible from the one proposed truck route. This would mean that legally trucks going to other areas would still be entitled to use other roads such as Dominion, Burns, Prairie, Oxford, ete. Although the trucks would be using these routes legitimately, Council may well get many complaints from People about the trucks not being on the truck route. The abeve points do not necessarily make a truck route on Coast Meridian unfeasible, but I do wish Council to be aware of these problems prior to making the decision, Respectfully submitted, F.E.Potors, Py City Engineer.
