The Canada Council has established three new programs in dance. They will serve to further the training of administrators for professional dance companies, improve dance teaching standards across the country and increase collaboration of dance companies with visual artists in the designing of sets and costumes. The new Guest Teachers Program is intended to bring private teachers and students — particularly those isolated from prin- cipal dance centres — into closer contact with professional teachers. Small grants, awarded on a competitive basis, will be provided to dance schools and organizations wishing to invite professional teachers from other parts of the -eountry to give classes in ]. Application forms for the Guest Teachers Program may be obtained from the Dance Section of the Council and should be submitted no later than July 1, 1977. Another new program, Grants to Commission Works by Canadian Visual Artists, is designed to en- courage professional dance companies to commission original sets and costumes.
