They also acknowledge that the

3. The statement reads:

turned down the Soviet proposal
(for a United Nations confer-

ence on Cyprus)?”, asked the.

dle East conflict on the basis of

in the area.

“We consider their arrest and
torture, as well as our being
deprived of the right to visit
them and concealment of the
whereabouts of many of them, a
blow directed against all efforts
to achieve a just peace in the

area, in addition to being a viol-

ation of the Universal Declara-
tion of Human Rights.

“We warmly appeal to all
those who champion justice and
