THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT coourriad 0 UJ N C | BYLAW NO. 2060 SEP 24 1984 A Bylaw to provide for the payment of an Indemnity to the Mayor OCT j 1984 and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam. WHEREAS under and by virtue of Section 267 of the "Municipal Act* being Chapter 290 of the Revised Statutes of Sritish Columbla, 1979, the Council! may by bylaw provide for paying out of the annual revenue an Indemnity to the Mayor and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam, and may provide that a portion of the sald Indemnity to be paid to the Mayor and Aldermen shatl be paid as an allowance for expenses Incidental to the discharge of the duties of thetr respective offices; NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: 1. During the period extending from the First Monday after the First day of December, 1983 to the First Monday after the First day of December, 1984, there shail be paid to the Mayor of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquittam an indemnity of $27,312.00 per annum of which said Indemnity the sum of $9,104.00 shal! be patd as an allowance for expenses Inctdenta!} to the discharge of the duties of his office. 2. Durtng the period extending from the First Monday atter the First day of December, 1983 to the First Monday after the First day of December, 1984, there shali be paid to each ot the Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam an Indemnity of $8,355.00 per annum of which sald indemnity the sum of $2,785.00 shall be paid as an allowance for expenses Incidental to the discharge of the duties of the office of Alderman. 3. The indemnity provided for in Sections 1 and 2 hereof shali be pald by the City Treasurer In twelve equa! monthly Installments during the months of December, 1983 through November 1984, Inclusive, to the person or perscns entitied to receive the same without further order or resolution of the Counc}! save and except as provided in Section 5 of this Bylaw. 4. Atter the expiry of the time specified tn Sections 1 and 2 hereof the Treasurer shall continue to pay the same equal monthly Installments to the person or persons entitted to receive the same as was being paid under the authority of Sections 1 and 2 hereof until the Counc! shall otherwise provide; and, upon such provision being made the amount or amounts pald sha!l be adjusted accordingly. 5. In the event any member of Councl! is absent for more than three consecutive regular Counct! meetings the Indemnity that would otherwise be due that member shal! not be pald to that member. The provisions of this Section may be waived by unanimous vote of the remaining members of Council. 6. This Bylaw may be clted for all purposes as the "Counc! | Indemnity Bylaw, 1984, No. 2060".
