THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM 1 MEMORANDUM WW ,] FEB 28 1983 TO: | B. Kirk, . February 24; 1983 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Tenders for Purchase of Street Sweeper - Public Works Committee, February 22, 1983 RECOMMENDATION: . ; That the contract for the purchase of a Street Sweeper be awarded to Vimar Machinery for purchase of a Sunvac Model 730 at a cost of $84,800.00 including tax, and that a Fibre Crete lining option be included for a cost of $3,000.00. — BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Five tenders were received for the Sweeper as shown on the attached recap sheet. The lowest tender from Crocker Equipment was for a mechanical sweeper which dees not meet the -requirements of the City or the specifications that were. requested. The low tender. does not provide a vacuum system for ‘catch basin cleaning. The hopper is only half the size specified therefore necessitating more trips to-the dump... The ‘ground clearance is quite. low and therefore would result in problems: entering a dump site where the ground is not level. There are a number of other deviations from the specifications. The second lowest tender from Vimar Machinery meets the requirements of the specifications and is within the $85,000 amount which was budgeted out of the Equipment Reserve. .In addition to the basic purchase, we would like to add an option for a Fibre Crete coating-on the inside ef the box which “will. reduce the wear and prevent rusting and may alla, us to “considerably extend the life of the Sweeper. This additional “option costs $3,000 and would increase the price above what was budgeted. : CE fy aad ot ene Pe ENg+, em “ City Endineer FEP/SGG Attachment R45 33 POWER SW anode FiAL aS tA Hee IRIE GO prenee E a te eis Me daiah adeval
