Pollock, City Administrator, City of Port Coquitlam, 2272 McAllister, Port Coquitlam, B.C. V3C 2A8. Dear Larry: Re: 3600 Biock Hamilton Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. Further to our telephone conversation on 21 February, 1978 regarding rats in the above residential area, please be advised that I inspected the ditches for rodent activity on 22 February. Open ditches extend along both sides of Hamilton Street as well as along the weet side of both back lanes and both sides of Patricia Avenue at the south end of the block. I found no evidence of rats in or around the ditches on Hamilton Street, but saw two possible burrows in the lane ditch between Hamilton Street and Inverness Street and one possible burrow in the north side ditch on Patricia Avenue. From these observations, I would conclude that there is little rodent activity in this area at this time. However, from John Nelson's letter of 22 June, 1977 sent to all residents on the west side of the 3600 block Hamilton Street (odd numbers) and the east side of the 3600 block Inverness Street (even numbers), I assume that there was a considerable problem last summer. I am enclosing a copy of this letter for your information. In addition, I noticed that most ditches now contain standing, polluted water. Unless these ditches drain or dry up in the spring, I would predict a mosquito problem in this area possibly greater than the rodent problem. I hope that this report is of some help to you and Council. Respectfully, 4 H. A. Kluge, fe. «te Fareyeo: Vector Control Officer. Seiden HAK/fr ~tarentey Enel: (1) ale eed
