June 7th, 1976 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C., on June 7th, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. Acting-Mayor Alderman L.M. Traboulay, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, and M.A. Thompson in attendance, Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, ?. Eng., Planning Officer Lanson Lee, Recreation Director Janna Taylor, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, and Mrs. B.M. Aalten. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Thompson: Minutes -—May 31/76 Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on May 3ist, 1976, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS : R.C.M.P. From Acting-Mayor Alderman L.M. Traboulay, June Ist, 1976, advising Tnsp.M.A. Young re 1 that Inspector M.A. Young, i/c Coquitlam R.C.M.P. Detachment, had requested add.man for juvenile de~- te Cd an opportunity to speak to his request for an additional man for the tail in City Port Coquitlam area that had been considered and denied at the May 31st, 1976 Council meeting. Inspector Young was in attendance and on invitation of Acting-Mayor Alderman Traboulay, he advised that the District of Coquitlam had approved the addition of two men, but not until the Ist of August and on the condition that a juvenile detail is formed. Inspector Young further advised that the reason he was requesting an additional man for Port Coquitlam was to perallel the service in the District of Coquitlam in providing a man for an exclusive juvenile crime detail. Alderman Ranger stated he appreciated that formation of a juvenile detail is a very worthwhile project; however, he stated his concern at the extra cost, particularly in view of the increased per capita charges for welfare the City will have to pay this year. Alderman Ranger also noted that the municipal share of policing costs would increase from 75% to 81% over the next five years, and stated he would rather see a man placed on the juvenile detail from the existing strength of the Detachment than take an extra man at this time for that purpose. Alderman Thompson inquired as to the comparison in manpower between the City and District of Coquitlam prior to placement of the District's two additional men,
