Scholarships. “Choosing Clay" Exhibition: A sur- vey of ceramics tn British Columbia and Washinglon by Glenn Allison and Jim Theomsbury indicated that the field was so diverse that they were unable to define a clear cura- torial premise. Rather than cancel exhibition plans, the Board decided to make diversity a theme in itself and the current show, which was organieved in collaboration wilh the Cartwright Gallery, is the result of that decision, Printed catalogues are a major expense and the Cartwright Gallery was fortunate in receiving a $2000.00 grant from the Keerner Foundation to partially defray costs. The Board hopes that “Choosing Clay" will be the precur- sor of olher exhibitions with cata- lague documentation and more focussed points of yew. Awards: $2000.00 was moved inte a Scholarship Fund with plane te add $2000.00 in each of the next four years. The long range objective is te builel cap the fund so that schol- arship commitments can be met by disbursing interest rather than depleting capital. The Board also decided to consolidale scholarships into two major $500.00 awards, - the Olea Davis and David Lambert Memorial awards, which will be open te second year students on a com- petitive basis beginning this year. Submissions, in the form of st slices and a reaume will be juried by the Board In March. All students sub- mitting applications will receive a one-year membership in the Guild.
