Terrace’s second annual Terrace participating, Mr. John Chen-Wing, biology teacher at Skeena Secondary, and Mr. Don MacLeod of Uplands, chairman of the Science Fair com- mittee, agreed that the event was “an almost unqualified success.” Mr, Chen-Wing said he was parti- cularly pleased with the initiative shown by individual students and that it augured well for the call- bre of future Science Fairs, Prizes were awarded in three categories: secondary, intermediate and‘ elementary. Mr. Don Wilson aid Mr, Art Bates, judges for the secondary awarded first prize to Norma Kerby for her two-year pro- ject on hydridization. Second prize went to Lorne Bass for research on “Man vs Lynx” and third prize to Eric Kerby for hig harmoxograph, ai instrument that transcribes harmonic motions on a paper disc. Honorable mentions went to W, Coburn and R. Fell for their seis- mograph and to a two-year class Project of Mr. Ed Kenney’s gener- al business XI students, a huge relief map of Terrace and district, The intermediate was judged by Mr. Pem van Heek of Terrace and Mr. David Cooke of Prince Rupert. First prize was awarded to David Marr ayd Ben Dubeaus of Clar- ence Michiel for a project on cry- Stallization Second prize was shar- ed by two projects: a study of col- or by Patti Sande and Marsha Carl- son of Clarence Michiel and a study of how light affects plants by Shtron Paupst and Debbie Goodlad of Clarence Michiel.
