Scope of the By-law Prohibiting Sounding of the Whistle:

5. (1) All public crossings located within the boundaries of a

(2) However, the public crossings to be included in the

6. If the by-layv is approved, the authorizing order may be made conditional
the fulfilment by urban municipal authorities of a commitment to:

(1) Erect and maintain signs at the approaches of all roads
providing ingress to their municipality, warning the —
public that such locality has banned the use of the
engine whistle at all of the crossings within the limits

of the municipality; end

(2) Erect and maintain signs in advance of all crossings
covered by the by-law warning that trains approaching
such crossing will not be sounding engine whistles.

7. An application for the ban of the engine bell will not normally be allowed
where this warning device is primarily intended for the protection of

pedestrians.
