March 20th, 1978. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolutions Alderman Ranger asked that a copy of the by-law be sent to the New Westminster City Council. CORRESPONDENCE: Mayor, City of PoMo, Mar. 14/78 re S.D. #43 1978 Budget. From Mayor Ian E. Young, City of Port Moody, March 14th, 1978 asking Council to ascertain whether they wish to participate in a joint meeting with the School Board to discuss educational budgets and fiscal responsibility. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That as requested in the letter from Mayor Ian E. Young, City of Port Moody, a joint meeting be held with the School]. Board to discuss educational budgets and fiscal responsibility. Defeated. Aldermen Laking and Mabbett voted in favour of the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution a discussion ensued and several Alderman stated that in their opinion the school budget should be dealt with by the School Board without comment or interference from the Councils. From Mr. and Mrs. C. Lohm, March 16th, 1978 appealing the decision wMr.g Mrs.C.Lohm, Mar. 16/78 re of the Engineering Department to remove a tree from the road allowance Tree Removal directly in front of their new home at 1649 Suffolk Avenue. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the appeal from Mr. and Mrs. C. Lohm, March 16th, 1978 asking for the tree in front of their home at 1649 Suffolk Avenue to remain be granted provided; THAT the tree is not found to be diseased or hazardous. AND THAT it does not interfere with servicing. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Traboulay asked the Approving Officer, Mr. V.G. Borch, P. Eng. to explain the section of the subdivision by~law which states that the tree must be oy, removed from the road allowance.
