July 28th, 1975 Mr. James Davies of 825 Prairie expressed concern regards the fact that only the front part of the property was to be developed. Alderman Thompson noted that the Developer had originally presented a plan for development of the total block but due to the problems of servicing and school accommodation in the area, the Planning and Zoning Committee had requested that only the front portion be considered at this time. Alderman Mabbett questioned the irregularity in the lot frontages and Alderman Thompson noted that it was an attempt not to dislodge the present homes on the properties. The Public Hearing concluded at 7:35 p-m. and the regular Council meeting then commenced. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on July 14th, 1975, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. Prior to passage of the resolution, Alderman Mabbett questioned the statements of the Fire Chief on Page 4 of the July 14th minutes with reference to the access to buildings in the Westgate Enterprises Ltd. development in case of fire. Both the Fire Chief and the City Planning Officer assured Alderman Mabbett that the statements were correct and that it was becoming a common practice in this type of development, to prepare areas as roadways and then cover them with landscaping so as to avoid the appearance of excessive blacktop. REPORTS FOR INFORMATION: From the Senior Building Inspector being the report of building permits issued for the month of June, 1975. Alderman Traboulay noted that in light of the Provincial Housing Minister's concern over the number of housing starts during recent months, Port Coquitlam, with 147 single family dwelling starts since the first of the year, seems to be holding its own. The report was then ordered received and filed. From the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, July 10th, 1975, being the June, 1975 Municipal Policirg Report. Alderman Traboulay noted that on the second page there was some indication of the number of juveniles being charged with various offences and asked if the number being dealt with as a result of the City's Curfew By-law could be reported on specifically. Mayor Campbell noted that a full report would be forthcoming at the end of August. The report was then ordered received and filed. 9
