ball League. And in the enc,
it was TOC Communica-
tions Athletics who came
out on top.

The finals pitted TOC
Com against the Methanex
Mariners. A 1-0 win in extra
innings gave TOC Com the
lead in best-of-three series.

one-hit, 16 strike-out effort
in the game, managing to
outshine Mariners’ starter
Lary Lamb’s four-bitter.
The winning run was scored
on a Wild pitch that sent
Cam Ratcliffe scampering
home from third base.

Game two saw the scrappy
Mariners bounce back with
a 3-1 win, slapping ithe
Athletics with their first loss
of the playoffs. TOC Com
briefly held the lead in the
second, but the Mariners
pounded out the win with
single runs in the fourth,
filth and sixth innings.
Again, Lamb held off the
TOC Com bats, allowing
only two hits in the game.

The rubber match was a
heart-stopper. Lamb battled
Neufeld pitch for pitch, in-
ning for inning. Mcthanex
broke the stalemate in the
third, scoring a single rua.
Then the Mariners pulled
off a two-run homer ia the
sixth, extending their lead to
three,

But in the bottom of the
sixth, the Athletics crawled
back with a drag bunt, an er-
ror and an infield single to
lond the bases. Kevin
Neufeld then walked up to
the plate and blasted one out
of the park for a grand-slam
homerun.

The rattled Mariners
would Ket in four more runs
before the inning ended.
Wade Larson and Len Jack-
son both came up with
clutch singles that delivered
two runs each,

The Mariners scored an-
other run at the top of the
seventh, closing the gap to
8-4, but relicf pitcher Brad
Neufeld closed the doors on

any comeback hopes.
