Following an absence of about
four months, John = -Albert
McDonald is back in town.
McDonald was to supposed to
appear in
Court on Nov, 29, 1991. He didn’t.
A bench warrant was issued for
his arrest, and that’s exactly what
happened in Edmonton earlier
this week. McDonald was arrested
by Edmonton police and returned
to Terrace via the sheriffs’ service.

. He will appear in Terrace provin-
cial court today for a show cause
hearing. At that time, a judge will
determine his custody status until.
he stands trial for theft and
fraud.

the show. The campaign was
successful from a sales point of

view, but when people showed up
at the front door of R.E.M. Lee

Theatre on the advertised date,

they discovered there was no

show. Indications at the time

were that the act had never even
been booked. Similar scenarios

took place in Kitimat and Prince

Rupert. _ . ,
_,An investigation of Mc-
Donald’s activities was launched
immediately by the RCMP Com-
mercial Crime Division in Prince

_ Rupert.

Later that year, McDonald
was charged: with fraud under
Sec. 380(1)a) of the Criminal

Code, which carries a maximum .

prison term of 10 years, and Sec.

-330(1) of the Criminal Code for
failing to be accountable for the ~
funds he had been entrusted with ~

by the'three community groups.
