One excuse is as good as another and Paul Martin and other Canadian UN representa- tives have been parroting these for nearly two decades in their slavish obedience to U.S, ob- struction tactics. Canada sells a great volume of wheat to China, gets paid on the barrelhead, and finds it a profitable trade by which to must admit China shore-up our ‘balance of pay- ments’, But in supporting China to her rightful seat on the UN, ‘no dice’ as per Washington’s in- struction, During past years tens of thou- sands of Canadians in all walks of life have supported and urged the re-admission of China to the UN, free of any and all of Paul Martin and company’s “two Chinas”, That support is now more urgent than ever before if the UN is to fulfill its historic mission of world peace — which it cannot do with a nation of 650 million locked out by U.S.-in- spired trickery. School financing needs thorough overhaul now By Nigel Morgan’ Record enrollments reported for B.C, schools this fall points. up the serious crisis developing in this province’s schopl system. Rejection of regional cpllege by- laws, increased numbers of mo- bile emergency: classrooms, overcrowded classes, lack of kindergarten facilities in many and the fact that over 300 people are teaching in B.C. without valid teaching certifi- cates, and the freeze on school boards which prevents them from planning and borrowing for con- struction more than three years in advance, are indicative of the problem, Cont’d on Pg. 7 See Finances Tribune VOL. 28, NO. 37 or a 10¢ ‘GREAT WALL’ ‘IN: DEPTH’ The Mannerheim Line, Moginot, Seigfied and simi- lar ‘lines’, the Great Wall of China, Ancient and modern. A ‘Wall’ designed to serve a duol purpose; divert the mass pressure in the U.S. and elsewhere for an end to its genocidal war on Vietnam, and provide an excuse for increased escalation in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. According to defence secretary McNamara this fence will include all the latest in electronic gim- micks, including warning sig- nals, electrified areas, etc,, inan effort to halt alleged ‘infiltration’ of North Vietnamese to South Vietnam. While this U.S. fence building and earth poisoning is under way, the escalated bombing of North Vietnam is being intensi- fied, while President Johnson’s pretenses at seeking ‘peace’ with Hanoi finds its real expression in an intensified bombing and killing of non-military targets and citizenry. A recent ABC television in- terview in Washington quoted North Vietnam Premier Pham Van Dong telling U.S. journal- ist David Schoenbrun that the U.S. must stop bombing North Vietnam unconditionally before peace talks could begin, Premier Van Dong added; — “There will be no reciprocity. There will be no blackmail, and we will not pay ransom to pirates,” As in all other instances of U.S. atrocities in Vietnam, the Pearson government remains ap- ologetically silent on this latest U.S. fence building and poison- ing ‘strategy’, As a member of the ICC, Canada has a responsi- bility to protest this criminal act.
