SUBJECT: Scarborough Watermain

Please’ be advised that a detailed estimate of the Scarborough watermaia
has now been completed. A number of additions have been made to the design
drawings from the conceptual sketch originally submitted, increasing the
construction costs for the project. A summary of additions are included for

your review:

lL. 7 - meters of additional 150 ¢ watermain 17 x 105 = $1785

1 - additional fire hydrant $2000

4 = additional water service transfers 4 x 410 = $1640
Total $5425

It is recommended that the water services be replaced utilizing
polybutelene pipe to property line. The age of the existing services is
approximately 25-30 years old. Test digs of services imlicates that the
ground in the area is highly corrosive in comparison with other areas of the
City; thereby reducing the life expectancy of the copper lines. The
consequences of not expending the additional funds now may well require crews
to replace services after the new asphalt has been completed. The proposed _
installation of new services would rasult in an additional cost of $15,900.

A summary of the costs are listed as follows:
