SUBJECT: Wheelchair Letdown in Recreation Centre Parking Lot -
Public Works Committee October 6, 1987

Recommendation:

That the Public Works Department instal! a wheelchair
letdown for the Parks and Recreation Department in the
Recreation Center parking !ot across the driveway east of the
building, and that the estimated cost of $400 be taken from the
unallocated funds in the Public Works Budget.

Background and Comments:

There is a wheelchair accessible route from the Hawthorne
Lodge to the Wilson Center via Tyner Street and Kingsway Avenue
with the exception of one curb within the Recreation Centre
parking lot. This required wheelchair letdown was referred to
the Parks and Recreation Committee and subsequently referred
back to the Public Works Committee. The Committee has agreed
to do this work out of its own budget.
