PTraboulay F.E. Peters, City Engineer Re: Steel Railing for Pedestrian Footbridge In the month of June approval was received from the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Provincial Secretary and Government Services to spend up to $18,000 to replace the aluminum handrailing on the Patricia’ Avenue footbridge with a steel handrailing. A copy of the letter from the Assistant Deputy Minister is attached. In accordance with this letter, we arranged for tenders for the replacement of the handrailing in steel in accordance with the attached sketch. Three tenders were received in the following amounts: 1. Abatech Industries - $ 10,315.76 2. J.P. Welding Company Ltd. - $ 21,451.95 3. X.L. Iron Works Company ~ $ 29,218.00 The first tender includes a credit of $1,300 for the existing handrailing which the contractor would take with him. The other two tenders provide no credit and the existing handrailing would be delivered to the City Yards. The tender from Abatech Industries also includes a statement that the quotation is for acceptance not later than August 15th, 1980. _Presumably if the order is given later than that date they would have the right to increase the costs. The Committee recommends that the contract for the replacement of the handrailing be awarded to Abatech Industries at a cost of $10,315.76 and that the bill be sent to the Provincial Secretary's Department.
