request from B.C, Hydro for permission to proceed with route changes bus route change

outlined in a recent letter involving proposed changes and additions to
bus routes within the City to take effect July 20th, 1979,

That as recommended by the Public Works Committee, May 8th, 1979,
B.C. Hydro be permitted to proceed with implementation of proposed route
changes and additions effective July 20th, 1979 as outlined in their
recent letter.

Carried.

During the discussion of the foregoing resolution, it was noted
that one of the Proposed changes, the new route 150 Lougheed, was in
response to complaints lodged by the City on behalf of residents earlier
in the year and although members of Council were pleased that the route
was to be implemented, they would like to see it as 4 regular service
rather than just one-way peak hours only. Alderman Mabbett commented
on the practice of buses parking and blocking their wheels on Shaughnessy
Street for extended periods of time and requested that some action be
taken to prevent this continuing. Additionally, it was noted that on
many occasions, more than two buses are attempting to use the bus zone
on Shaughnessy Street at any one time creating a traffic hazard. The
City Engineer agreed to bring these matters to the attention of B.C,

Hydro Transit at their next meeting.
