Joint Agreement - Justice Building Operation Attached is a copy of proposed agreement between the District of Coquitlam and the City for the joint operation of the Justice Building. The terms set out in the agreement are those which were incorporated in a report to Council prior to the building being constructed. Essentially they include the City paying 1/3 of the construction cost with the District providing the serviced land (this construction has already been completed). The operating costs are to he shared with the City paying 25% for 1972 and subsequent years will be based on a ratio calculated in anecordance with section 1(d). The ratio will be the relationship between the City and the District for census, police calls for the previous year, and court appearances. The overall ratio of these three items determining the City's and District's share. I do not have the actual calculation of the ratio for 1973 however in previous calculations the City's share worked out just slightly in excess of 25%, The City solicitor has reviewed the document and has given his approval. A by-law should be passed to put the agreement into effect. Note that the agreement is for a period of one year however it will be extended automatically unless either party give notice within sixty days of the renewal date that they desire to terminate the agreement, 2. B.C, Association of Assessors Meeting The City has been asked to assist in hosting a June meeting of the B.C. Association of Assessors Lower Mainland Branch. This Association holds quarterly meetings throughout the Lower Mainland and it has been the practice in the past to have the host municipality pay a portion of the cost of the meeting which is a dinner meeting and guest speaker etc. The meetings are sponsored on 4 rotational basis and the last time the City participated was in 1971. There would probably be 10/2
