Page AG — Terrace Standard, Wednesday, May 20, 1992 “LETTERS _ TO THE TERRACE STANDARD Our Skeena Angler Dear Sir: As a citizen of B.C., a taxpayer in the Terrace area and as a mem- ber of a "share group" J take ex- ception to the column entitled The Skeena Angier by Rob Brown. This particular article was entitled "A Sell Job for the big Corporations." Mr. Reb Brown does not state where his research took him, but it is my opiaion that he used the research paper that was commis- sioned by NDP Bob Skelly who happens to be from my riding of Albemi on Vancouver fsland, If Mr. Brown had done full re- search he would have also been aware that his federal representa- tive Mr. Fulton had on his staff Colleen McCrory of the Valhalla Seciety who was one of the people instrumental in "saving" South Moresby. It would be in the best interest of the so-called environmental movement to discredit the share groups of B.C. (was there a con- nection?) If Mr. Brown would have been more diligent in his so-called re- search he would also have found that Mr. Skelly later "No", when asked directly by Art Duhame, "Do you think that anyone in the B.C. share groups have any con- nections with the Moonies, Causa or Death Squads?" This question was repeated and again the answer was "No", That being the case the taxpayers should be asking why were tax spread un- subslantiated rumour, innuendo and guilt by possible association ‘to discredit the share groups. dollars used to. Mr. Brown would be bet- ter believed if he had done his homework and at least talked to the share groups. Could it just be that the rural voice of B.C. through the share groups is finally being heard and making the so-called environ- mental groups accountable for what they say and do? Mr. Brown’ would be better called ‘‘misguided”’ if he had done his ‘homework and at least talked to the share groups that he speaks believed about, Has he done this yet? As Mr, Brown said in his open- ing paragraph he is "misguided", hopefully he will now stick io what his column implies "an- gling", raaybe he will do better at that topic. To the editor, if Mr. Brown is to continue his ramblings in your newspaper it would be a credit to your readers to have the column title changed to reflect what he really is writing about, In closing let me also say that the citizens of the Terrace area should become more familiar with their local issues as it relates to land use, be it for forestry, mining, cattle grazing, agricul- ture, wilderness and urban setile- ment. Just look to the Killope, Khut- zeymateen, Seven Sisters etc. and wait till the so-called preser- vationists take your area by storm. Carol Lundy Port Alberni, B.C. There’s no evil Dear Sir: As a member of Nirvana Metaphysics and Healing Centre, a spiritual healer, and a United Church’ member, I would like {o respond to Kaeleen Bruce's letter. I am traly amazed at the fear generated by Kaeleen, as if we are tying to entice weak- minded souls into our web for terrible purposes. Step out of your fear, and open your eyes and your heart. Many people from a all walks of life come to Nirvana to learn to meditate, and come in closer contact with their higher selves, — “The lessons hhelp us to under- stand our spiritual journey in this life. We are able to bring gteater peace, joy and light into our lives as a result of de- veloping a spiritual discipline. - { am privileged to have heal- ing energy around me, and. ~ have learned to channel’ this - energy for spiritual healing, both in laying on ‘of hands and telepathically. In most Chris- tian Churches this would be called Jesus’ healing power. I consider that it is all God’s love or universal energy, one’ and the same, however you choose to name it And I do feel ever so honoured to have it Mow so strongly through me, and to be of service to others in healing. We can all have direct com- munication with the spirit world, without having a minis- ter as an intermediary. God is active in our lives! And we can surely tell the difference be- tween a positive, healing ener- _ gy showering us with love and light, and one filled with negativity, fear and darkness. In my way of thinking, this in no way contradicts the basic creed and beliefs of the United Church of Canada. There is still a welcoming spot for me in the Choir loft every Sunday, and the congregation at Knox United is truly my faith family. ’ Butso also are the healers and Centre extends’); classmates at Nirvana. There are many different ways to come to God’s love. No one way is the absolute true path for all. And evil doesn’t lurk behind the door at Nirvana just because some fear the spirit contact. Let go of your fear, Experience God’s love in your own way, but ex- tend to us the same courtesy. Show the tolerance Jesus had for.all people. Shalom, Frances Birdsell, Terrace, B.C. healing prayers Dear Sir: ‘In. response to the letter by _Kaeleen’ Brice (May 13, 1992), I would like to make a few corrections but will not argue religion. We are a metaphysical and healing centre, Our hearts are not hardened in any way and in fact we thank you for’ your prayers and we send you our healing prayers as well. Love and light, Dr. Laure] Gregg, Nirvana Metaphysic and Healing Centre, : Terrace, B.C. Rental disputes require — new set of guidelines — Dear Sir: I feel myself being checked and checkmated in a bureaucratic game. I have a dilemma that a lot of people may find themselves in. At present, and becoming more prevalent in the future, we will find a large percent of the population living in shared accommodation because of a low rental vacancy and high cost of living. The Terrace rental vacancy is 0.08%. .. I was recently renting a room with the remainder of the house to share and at the cnd of the tenancy I found myself in a dispute with the former landlady over the return of my security deposit. On following the avenues of resources to the renter I found I fall into a "Catch 22” situa- tion, The B.C, Renters Associ- ation will not verify I am ac- ceptable for arbitration without - the $35 application fee. This. fee is forfeited if my case is unacceptable because of the shared accommodation... -It was suggested that it may fall under a different common law act and I should go. through small claims court. On viewing the reference booklet =: for small clalmis court, itis. stated (hat’ they do not neeepl a "Landlord - Tenant" disputes. On questioning a court worker, I was told that I would have to apply with the $25 fee and that fee would be forfeited if the case was not acceptable for small claims. court. I feel as if I am -slippiag through well greased fingers and I should shrug my shoulders and walk away, but I refuse to allow a poorly: set us, 7 overly oiled system to dampen.” : my spirit. I, as many others, necd ‘to have a set guideline to follow if we find ourselves ina shared accommodation tenant dispute. Sincerely, Kathy Corbett - Support police rallies needed Dear Sir: We - need more "police brutality"! The leftist media says,"The youth Is frustrated". Clear thinking productive people say,"We are frustrated and fed-up about growing numbers of not studying, not willing to work, looting, vandalizing kids, who prefer a street life of dope, alcohol, sex, and mind destroying rock *music," But there is also good news. There is a group rallying be- . hind the police in Toronto that are no fascists and they say, "The police should .not be | » handcuffed", We : teed’ more. rallies like that in ow nation, So Authority should ‘be re- established and the spirit of rebellion quenched, It all begins when the media instigate unrest, when people turn their backs on God and His laws, when the. Bible is removed from public schools, when preachers tum liberal, and when churches become, ~ empty. The slogan of the French rev- olution was, "No God, nao: Our generation says)... - the same thing.
