I. Terrace ‘Review — Wednesday, October 26, 1988 “Strong season ahead for minor ball With a comfortable bank ac- count of just over $4,100 and a steady registration of players overall, Terrace Minor Softball is looking to another solid season in 1989. At their annual general meeting earlier this month, one of the major items discussed was Basketball schedule changed It’s the same teams, but dif- ferent times and location this season for the Terrace men’s four-team basketball league. In- stead of playing their Tuesday and Thursday night games at Skeena Junior High School as they have for many years, they’re moving to Caledonia Senior Secondary: on the same nights. Their times have also been switched, as they play later at night, In past years double headers went at 8:15 and 9:30. They'll play now at 9 o’clock and 10:15. As*they have to be out of the school by 11:30, halftimes have been cut to two minutes. And because of tight time factors, teams must warm up on sidelines before games. As one player told us, “We'll get used to it.”’ Curlers hire bartenders A thorn in the side of curlers has been removed. - A’ decision by the Terrace Curling Club’s executive to hire the Kinsmen Club for barten- ding duties in the lounge for this season during bonspiels will free curlers from this long-time, ex- tra duty. Compulsory bartending has been a deterrent in the past. It was a major contributing factor for curlers giving up the game. However, its not all good news, Curlers will still be ex- pected to take turns behind the bar during Mondays to Thursdays. It should amount to two hours per team over tlie’ season. By the way, there’s still a few openings for teams in all divi- sions —- men’s, women’s and mixed, as well as after-school - junior..
