Students The generation being trained to take over the building of a new society — college students and students of specialized secondary schools — are accorded ever greater.concern in the USSR. The amount of scholarship grants has been increased. beginning in the autumn of 1972. The grants of those enrolled in the universities and institutes of the USSR (about 6 million voung men and women) have been increased by 25%. while those of students of specialized secondary schools. (about 4.5 million voung people) have been raised 50°c. Rural machine operators wishing to raise their qualifications are entitled. while they are taking the free courses. to a grant of from 20 to 40 rubles in addition to their former average wage. invalids of World War Il Disabled veterans are: now entitled to get. for their free personal use. a Zaporozhets car for a period of 7 vears — and'not for 10 vears as was formerly the case — then they are issued another car. Users of such Zaporozhets cars are exempted, from paving garage rent. The Ninth Five-Year Plan guarantees that. as the country’s economic potential grows. the real per capita incomes of the entire 250 million So- viet people will be increased 31‘: by the end of 1975.
