THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: City Administrator March 12, 1987 FROM: City Engineer SUBJECT: Replacement of Damaged Gate at Coquitlam River Dyke = Public Works Committee March 3, 1987 Recommendation That the gate damaged by vandalism at the so = side of Pitt River Road east of the Coquitlam River be repiluced by the City and the estimated cost of about $1,000.00 be taken from uninsured losses. Background and Comments: The gate in question has been destroyed by vandals in order to gain access to the dyke alongside the Coquitiam River. Although this dyke road would be used by the City for access to the river, it fs actually private property, being part of the Indian Reserve. For this reason, if was not considered prudent to repitace the gate without the specific approval of Counci!. The high cost of installing the gate is due to the sturdy construction required in order to resist the effort of vandals with four~wheel drive vehicies. _— < FoE. Peters, P.
