Background and Comments: Tenders for the reconstruction of Pitt River Road from the Coquitiam River to Shaughnessy Street were recelved and opened on July 10, 1987. Four tenders wers submitted. The attached letter dated July 13, 1987 prepared by Associated Engineering L+d summarizes the tender results and recommends that the project be awarded to Bal Construction Ltd, the lowest tender, with a bid price of $404,394. The Public Works Committees ¥, agrees with Associated Engineering Ltd's recommendation. With the awarding of this tender to Bel Construction the projected final cost (rounded off to the nearest $1,000) as provided by Associated Engineering Ltd is as follows: 1. Although the projected project cost appears to be some $42,000 over the budgeted amount, Council] should note that bulit into the tender price Is an estimated $20,000 of contingency funds according to our consultant. There Its also an approved Highways Grant for one half of the final project cost to a maximum of $250,000. In other words, “'I- 66
