Since the trial in the Mary Hil! area conducted by Canus,
the Committee has become aware of two alternative sources of
supply of a container. Unfortunately, the containers do not
use the same type of lift mechanism so that it fs not possible
to allow the residents the option of choosing the most
competitive service. The City, if it gets into this service,
must make a decision of one type of container and then stick
with if. The City would te subject to criticism {tf an
agreement were entered into with one company without allowing
other companies to prove that they could not provide a better
deal for the City and the residents. That is the reason for
the recommendation to call for proposals.
