December 14th, 1981. Mrs. C. Knobbe, resident of 2350 Lobb Avenue, advised that the petition was not drawn up to prevent East Indian families from living in the proposed development as was commented to her earlier in the day. Mrs. B. Naidu, resident of 2072 Shaughnessy Street, spoke in support of the proposed development which would be across the street from her and advised there is a playground further down on Shaughnessy where mothers could take their children to play as she does herself. Mr. Schubert, resident of 2237 Lobb Avenue, stated in his opinicn property values will go down ir this proposed development is built. Mr. J. Khouri, 1952 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, Executive Director of Inner City Housing, advised Property values have gone up not down when developments as proposed have been established; housing problems make values go up and down; Mr. Khouri referred to other Inner City Housing Developments and stated developments are either built or taken over and renovated and that maintenance costs are part of the co-op requirements; and referred to the traffic problems and stated in his opinion this development would not make or break the traffic problem, the problems already exist. Mr. P. Thiessen, resident of 2272 Pitt River Road, expressed concern regarding traffic and stated in his opinion it is the right of the people to say no thank you to development. Mr. G. Patterson, #23 ~ 6600 Lucas koad, Bichmond, Independent Broker, urged the present residents to help new residents get established, that with the high housing costs this proposed development would provide low cost homes to 25 Families. Mr. F. Nick, 2337 Lebb Avenue, stated the developments mentioned in other areas are not in residential areas, they are in commercial or olé run down areas and stated in his opinion the area should have single family housing and a cul-de-sac. Mr. Khourl, Executive Director of Inner City Housing, submitted a petition containing 24 signatures of people in favour of the proposed development. The Public Hearing adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
