THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM City Administrator September 25, 1981 F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Additional Parking for Downtown The Public Works Committee considered a request of Council to examine the possibility of tearing down the City-owned house just east of the No. 1 Fire Hall and converting the Property to parking. The Committee estimates a rough cost of $5,000 to prepare the site and presumably a rezoning bylaw would also be required. The Committee requested that the information be referred to you to see whether our agreements with merchants for rented retail parking spaces require that we replace the Spaces we removed from the Fire Hall parking lot when the new road was put through. Do we still have enough off-street spaces available to cover all those that have been rented to the merchants? For your information we have received representation from merchants requesting that we create more on-street parking syaces by creating angle parking along some of the downtown streets, We will be looking at this from an Engineering point of view later in the vear. _Also attached is a letter concerning the need for long term spaces in the City which has yet to be considered by the Public Works Committec. on Vie - Avs P.E.
