The CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM - 3 - properties on the east side of Ulster be included in the development to share the servicing and construction costs. The Committee feels that this matter should be referred to the Land Use and Land Sale Committees for further consider- ation. As part of their considering this the Public Works Committee would like to suggest that: 1. Development on both sides of Ulster Street be considered from Lincoln Avenue north to Victoria Drive. 2. Strong consideration be given to disposing of the City property as raw unserviced land. v. ' ITEM V Re: Downtown Street Lighting Council has received by memorandum dated May 16th, 1977 the R.P. Shaflick Engineering Ltd. Report. A meeting was held with the Downtown Merchants Association on Tuesday, May 24th, 1977 and as a result of this meeting the Committee is now prepared to make the following recommendations: ' . 1. The Shaflick Report eutlines three types of lighting standards using mercury vapour lights and the same three standards using high pressure sodium lighting. The Committee recommends that the regular davit standard with mercury vapour lighting be used in the downtown area. The estimated cost of this in the Report was $179,299.00 for thé entire downtown area. 2. $25,000.00 was approved in the 1977 Budget for downtown street lighting. The Committee recommends that the street lighting be undertaken on Shaughnessy Street from Wilson Avenue north to the underpass at an estimated cost $31,000.00. The City Administrator can advise Council on how the additional $6,000.00 can be provided should Council agree. 3. The Committee feels that in subsequent years consideration should be given to proceeding on Whyte Avenue east of Shaughnessy Street, Leigh Square, Donald Street, and McAllister Avenue east of Shaughnessy Street. The remainder of the work shown in the Shaflick Report should be considered concurrent with downtown commercial and residential development.
