THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C 0 U V C MEMORANDUM a JAN 7 1980 TO: Mayor and Council December 27, 1979 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee meeting held Monday, December 24th, 1979, IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. Mabbett, Chairman Alderman L.M. Traboulay, Vice-Chairman F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer G.W. Ulmer, Works & Utilities Superintendent ITEM I Re: Pre-servicing for Water and Scwer under Mary Hill By-Pass In order to provide water and sanitary sewer service to the industrial area south of the Mary Hill By-Pass it will eventually be necessary to place water and sewer mains across this highway. One crossing for each service is required at Coast Meridian Road and another one at Broadway. As we anticipate that it would be very difficult to get approval from the Department of Highways for trenches acress the new highway once it 1s completed, it is our intention to install casings for water and sewer prior to completion of the highway so that they can be utilized at a later date. Funds for these casings have been included in the 1980 Provisional Budget. However, we have been informed by the Department of Highways that we should have these installed prior to the completion of the base course on the highway. This means that we will have to do our work in March or April of 1980. To meet this schedule it will be necessary to obtain approval for these items immediately. The Committee recommends that funds in the amount of $8,000 for sewer and $6,000 for water be approved to come out of the 1980 budget and that the City proceed with the design and installation of the pre- ducting for the water and sewer crossings at the two locations. Respectfully submitted, F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer
