k) Because of the confusion about the role of the Family

Court Committee and its mandate, we drafted, accepted
3 and published a Handbook for this committee for members
and interested parties. A copy of this handbook js
available,

1) We have had several excellent speakers, among them:

1. Brug and Alcohol problems and services in this
' District.

2. Marge Crum, MHR; District Services
Al Argue, School District 43

Wayne Nichol, MHR, is scheduled to speak at the
November, 1986 meeting.

We have formed a sub-committee to study the feasibility
of starting a lay advocacy program in the District.

We have offered our assistance as needed to our
resource members - MHR, Police, Share Society, Simon
Fraser Health, and have asked for input from all
parties as to how we may assist them.

We have attended meetings of interest to the Committee
and have reported back on problems and issues raised at
them, such as those offered by the PoCoMo Interagency
Forum on downsizing Riverview, Alcohol Abuse and other
problems.

p) Addressed Mayor's meeting in duly regarding activities
of the Family Court Committee and concerns to the
Mayors,

Once again, thank you for allowing me to address this
meeting of Council. Thank you for your continued support of our
